The Awesome Forest by Balfron High School (Balfron P.S; Killearn P.S; Strathblane P.S.) pupils with support from Gordon Turnbull (musician) and Emma Bowen (animator).
Artlink Central is proud to present 'Sounds of the Forest', a collective of short animations based around the United Nations designated Year of the Forest 2011. The animations were produced by pupils participating in Artlink Central's 'Arts and Transition Programme', part of a partnership programme between the Central Scotland based arts organisation and Stirling Council. Selected Primary 7 pupils visited their future high school, once a week, for two hours, over a seven week period, to work with professional animation artists and musicians from Artlink Central, and in most instances also with existing high school pupils. They took part in workshops to produce both the music and the visuals for these wonderful, vibrant, thought provoking animations.
The project was supported by EIS Stirling, EIS Edinburgh and the Stirling District Arts Forum as well as by Stirling Council.
Artlink Central is an arts agency working across Central Scotland, engaging visual artists, musicians and performing artists in communities. We focus on developing evidence based practice in arts and health, arts and disability and arts in prisons and in our work with arts and young people. Our participants develop art form skills, increase confidence, engage socially and grow their personal and collective aspirations through participating in experiencing the arts.
